Dias de los Muertos

In honor of the Mexican/ Latin American Holiday, “Dia de Los Muertos” – Community Action Marin will be participating for the 3rd time in the Marin Culture Center’s Dia de Los Muertos Celebration on November 4, 2023 from 3:00-9:00pm at the Albert J. Boro Community Center at Pickleweed Park in San Rafael. Visit the Day of the Dead website or download the event flyer to learn more.

Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)  is a tradition celebrated in Mexico, Latin America, and Indigenous tribes in Northern & Central America. It is believed that between October 31 – November 2nd the spirits of deceased loved ones awaken and return to the living world to visit their families to feast, drink, dance and reminisce old times. It is a celebration of life, not death. Families of the deceased traditionally honor them by creating beautiful Ofrendas (altars created at gravesites or inside their homes) with Cempasuchil(marigold flowers), along with beautiful decorations, food, drinks, and sentimental items that their family once loved.
