Community Action Marin is expanding service delivery

Stronger Collaborations in Marin City
Posted on Category Stories

Community Action Marin is expanding service delivery onsite at Bayside Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy in Marin City through a collaborative partnership with the Sausalito Marin City School District (SMCSD) and Marin County Cooperation Team (MCCT). The agency will be operating and administering programs and intake services through next year, with a possibility to extend beyond this initial time frame. The location will give Marin City residents the opportunity to receive on-site safety net, financial, career, and credit coaching services, with access to faster, more efficient referrals to the agency’s mental health services and Marin City child care, including its Head Start operations.

Community Action Marin has worked to alleviate the causes and consequences of poverty in Marin County for over fifty years and in Marin City with dedicated child care services for thirty. The agency addresses the needs of people of low income, older adults, single mothers, immigrants, homeless, low-wage workers, and others disenfranchised from traditional living-wage pathways. The location at Bayside MLK Academy will strengthen cross-agency and inter-agency referrals to meet the most pressing needs in the community.

This partnership will strengthen our shared passion and expertise to support pathways to self-sufficiency and thriving for southern Marin residents.

“This partnership strengthens racial and economic equity for all across the crisis-to-thriving continuum by offering residents the services they need right here,” said Community Action Marin CEO, Chandra Alexandre. “We are proud to join hands with local leaders like SMCSD and MCCT in the work of getting people what they need with care and respect for their strengths, dreams, and next steps to self-sufficiency.”

Both Sausalito Marin City School District and Community Action Marin believe that this partnership will produce fruitful outcomes for students, parents, and the Marin community as a whole. We look forward to extending our services and making our programs accessible to more members of our community.
