Help when you need it

One time financial assistance for emergency family needs

We're Here If You Need Us

A one-time emergency can tip the scale for people who are already struggling into crisis.  We are committed to providing assistance when the unexpected happens. This can include an emergency or crisis such as a loss of income. a delay or loss of public benefits, an action by a landlord, a natural disaster such as a flood, and more.

The Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund can provide short-term, one time financial assistance with rent, mortgage and security deposits for those experiencing homelessness or housing instability and have exhausted other resources and support. Any financial payments are always made directly to a vendor and eligible individuals can receive assistance only once every five years. Depending on other funding and need, it may also be possible to provide support with medical equipment, or other essential needs (excluding medical and dental bills).

If you are in need of immediate financial assistance, other than with utilities, or have questions about emergency assistance, please send an email to our Community Supports team.

For individuals and families who are facing an unforeseen emergency and cannot access food resources, they may be able to receive an Emergency Food Box in partnership with the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.
