Marin County is one of the wealthiest counties in the U.S., but the realities for some here are no different than in far less affluent places. Getting by and getting ahead have become hard for many residents and worse now in these difficult times. Even before the pandemic, for almost a third of families, just meeting basic needs meant living paycheck to paycheck. Did you know that 1/3 of families with children are forced to make difficult choices every day, sometimes between putting food on the table for their families or paying rent?
As economic uncertainty continues and the impact of the pandemic becomes clear in its inequities, the time for us to act is now. Together, we are building momentum for a county ready to seize opportunities and make a difference for all of us as we plan for and co-create the better normal.
We’re for Marin, by Marin. Our agency is seeking to meet the needs of community today and work to increase our budget to $25M over the next decade. We want to diversify the agency's funding base to better support the kinds of flexible funding that make truly responding as the voice of community possible.
