A pathway to secure housing and employment

Accelerating Pathways to Thrive for Marin Women
Posted on Category Opportunities, Stories

Accelerating Pathways to Thrive for Marin Women is a pilot program for a cohort of sixteen women who are experiencing homelessness or are precariously housed. In this yearlong program we will work with participants to overcome barriers as they find their pathway to secure housing and employment. The program focuses on participants’ strengths and supports individuals through employment, financial, and wellness coaching.

Each participant will receive customized services to support their overall well-being, education and training, and employment goals. This program is possible through a collaboration among Community Action Marin, Ritter Center, Marin City Community Development Corporation, Marin Small Business Development Center, County of Marin Health & Human Services, and College of Marin.

A successful welcome event took place on October 29th during which the team connected with sixteen women who were ready to embark on the journey toward self-sufficiency and prosperity. Representatives from multiple agencies introduced themselves to participants and shared their roles in this integrated service delivery system, including safety net services access, financial coaching, employment counseling, behavioral and peer mental health, and general support to meet basic needs while working toward long-term goals. Team members from Community Action Marin’s Enterprise Recovery Center, Economic Opportunity Program, and Workforce Development team, as well as staff from Ritter Center, Marin City Community Development Corporation, and CareerPoint MARIN, have committed time and resources to support this group of women in building skills, connections, and a supportive environment that will allow them to thrive.

I am looking forward to the journey we will take with the participants. It’s a privilege to be on this team of partners who are committed to paving a new way of fully supporting participants and their families along their pathway towards employment.  I am inspired by the women of the program and can’t wait to support their dreams.” Maricruz Assefnia, Workforce ManagerCommunity Action Marin

“Accelerating Pathways to Thrive is a unique program because it places participants at the center of a service delivery system that accounts for evolving needs and external factors that present barriers to success. These women will work with a success team comprised of staff from multiple agencies to create wellness, stability, and education/career plans so they have clarity on what success will look like and the steps needed to get there. Throughout the twelve months, women will also receive support from the Workforce Manager who will act as an advocate and liaison among all participating agencies to ensure we offer an exceptional experience that feels inclusive, respectful, and uplifting. It is an honor to learn with and walk alongside this group of incredibly powerful, resilient women who have so much to give.” -Heather Bettini, Director of Economic Opportunity & Workforce Development, Community Action Marin
