I am a mother, a student and an associate teacher in early childhood education. I currently work at Community Action Marin while continuing my education to earn my lead teacher permit. I am also part of an apprenticeship program that allows me to continue working while gaining experience and growing professionally.
I am urging voters to support Measure P, the proposed childcare tax on the November ballot.
Having access to affordable, high-quality childcare has been incredibly important to my success. As a mother who works and goes to school, balancing all my responsibilities is not always easy. Having a safe and reliable place for my son allows me to work, attend my classes, complete my education and continue pursuing my career goals while knowing that he is safe, supported and well cared for. Without reliable childcare, continuing my education and professional growth would be much more challenging.
The program has also had a very positive impact on my son. He has attended for more than five years and has formed special connections with the teachers and staff. He sees them as a second family and feels safe, loved and part of a community. The program has given him opportunities to learn, socialize, build relationships and develop new skills. My journey has not always been easy. Balancing work, school and motherhood takes effort, organization and determination. Reliable childcare has helped me keep moving forward without having to give up on my goals.
My education and professional growth are paving the way for a better future for my family. I want to continue advancing in early childhood education, create greater stability for my family and show my son that even when the journey is difficult, it is important to keep working toward our dreams.
