IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
2025 Annual Report Now Available!
Our 2025 Annual Report is here!
As we vision Marin forward, we must first look back to celebrate and build upon our successes. With your continued generous support, we are proud of what we accomplished together this past year.
In 2025, we:
- Planted our roots in Novato with the opening of our new headquarters
- Delivered over 17,000+ services countywide, helping thousands of people from crisis to thriving
- Opened an Early Learning Center in San Rafael, expanding access to vital services and education opportunities and so much more
As Marin’s largest nonprofit social services agency and a leader in anti-poverty movement building, we remain steadfast in our commitment to building a more equitable Marin. At Community Action Marin, there is no wrong door. Regardless of their situation, every family and individual receives the support they need to start their journey towards self-sufficiency.
Together, we are helping people and changing lives.

COMMUNITY COURAGE AWARDEE
Meet Atena Portillo-Hernandez
We are proud to recognize Atenea Portillo-Hernandez as the recipient of Community Action Marin’s 2026 Community Courage Award.
When Atenea joined our Road to Self-Sufficiency Program in the spring of 2023, she was navigating one of the most challenging seasons of her life. As a single mother caring for a newborn and a toddler, she was determined to create a stable future for her family while exploring a sustainable career path. Rather than allowing those challenges to define her future, Atenea met them with determination, grit, and courage.
Throughout her workforce development journey, Atenea has demonstrated resilience, leadership, adaptability, and a deep willingness to learn. She has encouraged her peers, inspired fellow apprentices, and strengthened the community around her through her generosity and positive spirit.
“I’m proud that I took that first step,” shares Atenea. “I want to tell my daughter and my son that they can follow their dreams…and just pursue a better life!”
Congrats, Atenea! Thank you for inspiring us all.

ECONOMIC JUSTICE
Hear from a LIHEAP Recipient
As the local LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) administrator, a federally funded program that helps low-income households cover home energy costs, we provide financial assistance to help people stay safe and secure at home.
“Thank you all SO much for the LIHEAP grant!” shared a Marin resident who recently turned to CAM when they were unable to pay their energy bills. “I really didn’t expect to receive one… however I am so grateful for this enormous gift.”
With support from our team, they received assistance, avoided further hardship, and can continue living safely in their home. Everyone deserves a stable place to call home. We’re in your corner to make sure you do.

NEWS &UPDATES
Office Space Now Available!
When Community Action Marin purchased its new permanent headquarters campus in 2024, CEO Chandra Alexandre envisioned a community hub where nonprofit organizations, community groups, and mission-driven leaders could come together, collaborate, and strengthen their impact.
Today, that vision is becoming a reality.
Office space is now available at our Novato campus, and we are seeking opportunities to partner with organizations and leaders who share a commitment to building a stronger Marin. Our facility is also available for community rentals.
Whether you’re looking for a new workspace, a place to gather, or opportunities to connect with fellow changemakers, we’d love to hear from you.
