In a county known for its high cost of living, more than a third of our Marin neighbors are one rent hike away from losing their housing and being forced out of our community. Marin rents are among some of the highest in the nation, far outpacing wages.
We spoke with Alvaro Camara, a long-time Marin resident, husband, and father of two young girls. Two rent increases in the past two years have raised his rent from $2000/month to $2675/month. One more increase and he fears his family could become homeless.

At Community Action Marin, our commitment to racial and economic justice means we are working to protect local tenants like Alvaro from homelessness and displacement. As a proud member of the Marin Rent Control coalition, we support local rent control and tenant protection measures to do just that.
