Staff Spotlight – Monica Mendoza, Workforce Development Coordinator
Posted on Category Staff Spotlight

We are delighted to welcome Monica Mendoza back to Community Action Marin! This time, in a new role as our Workforce Development Coordinator in Economic Justice, managing our agency’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) Associate Teacher Apprenticeship program. With a wealth of experience supporting community members to overcome barriers, develop goals, and secure fulfilling employment as our former Career Advancement Specialist, Monica will now support a group of new ECE teachers who will complete college courses and 2,000 hours of paid training in the classroom on their pathway to a new career.

Our vision for the Associate Teacher Apprenticeship program, explained Monica, is to recruit, support, and retain participants who are interested in jump-starting their career in the Early Childhood Education field. Participants will get hands-on training, experience in the field, and gain skills necessary to secure employment. Monica will be the coordinator for this new program and will also serve as the success coach for the participants.

“I am excited to be back and to join the participants in their educational/career advancement journey,” said Monica. “I hope to empower them, support them, and guide them to success.”

Monica believes in the life-changing work at Community Action Marin and shares:

“I chose Community Action Marin because it aligns with my values. I share the agency’s values and mission and am passionate in helping to strengthen economic development, racial, and social justice. What I hope to accomplish in this new role is to empower participants and help them become self-sufficient, move out of poverty, and transform their lives. I hope to make the new apprenticeship program at Community Action Marin a success for both the participants and the community!”

When she’s not at work, Monica enjoys being in nature on a hike, spending time with family and friends, and walking her Frenchie pup.
