Affordable Housing/Prop 5

The affordable housing crisis impacts all of us.

Schools, hospitals, and local businesses struggle to recruit and retain employees. Families and retirees face difficulties remaining in the communities they’ve long called home. Cities and towns are grappling with increasing homelessness. This crisis is decades in the making, and it demands urgent, local solutions.

Producing housing is a complex and expensive endeavor. Increasing our supply of general obligation bonds at the local level is one of the most powerful affordable housing financing sources available. Prop 5 sets a threshold for passing bonds for affordable housing and infrastructure at 55%, just like for public schools. It is a critical next step in the fight for affordable housing.

Prop 5 gives local voters more power to address the affordable housing and public infrastructure needs in their communities. Learn more about Prop 5.

ENDORSE Prop 5

Community Action Marin is a founding member of Housing For All Marin, a coalition of local organizations advocating for more affordable housing in our county. There is currently not enough funding sources to build the affordable housing that is already planned for Marin County. Local affordable housing bonds are important to help fill the gap.

Prop 5 will make it easier to create more housing that is affordable for low and middle-income Californians and to upgrade our critical public infrastructure.
