Everyone was friendly and the quality of service was excellent. Now I recommend the program to all the people I know.
Our client, Marsha, began using Community Action Marin’s services in 2015 and was referred to our agency by a local nonprofit, Homeward Bound of Marin.
“ I want to be able someday buy a forever home for me and my children,” she told her coach.
Through her various coaching sessions, Marsha learned that in order to reach her goal she would need to decrease her expenses and begin to put money into savings on a regular basis. She would also need to pay off her credit debt. Marsha and her financial coach set up a realistic budget, which included $200 per month for savings.
“I’ve been able to stick to my plan and I’m proud to say that I now own a car and I’ve paid off all of my credit card debt!”
Marsha is elated that in less than one year she was able to bring up her credit score by over 80 points. She continues to save for the home of her dreams and currently has a sizeable savings.
“The best information I got was through my coach’s advice and connections to all the free community resources available to me that I didn’t know existed before. Thank you, Community Action Marin!”

1 in 4 families in Marin are struggling to put food on the table. Our programs have delivered over 2.5 million meals, making sure that over 700 children have nutritious meals daily. We also prepare food boxes to cover emergencies and make sure people receive the public benefits to which they’re entitled.
We’re working to strengthen participation in job training programs, encourage more job training programs, and build stronger readiness pathways for people who need special support to become eligible for these programs. This emerging body of work includes our ECE Workforce Project and other new initiatives under development.
