“Marketing can increase awareness of the inequities in Marin and Community Action Marin’s mission to reduce them and break down the barriers that get in the way of self-sufficiency and providing the services that people need.”

Margot comes to Community Action Marin as an Encore Fellow, and Director of Marketing. Encore is a program that matches skilled, seasoned professionals, like Margot, who have at least 20+ years of experience in their field of expertise with nonprofits that have a need for a select skillset.

In Margot’s case, joining Community Action Marin is a natural progression in both her career and in pursuing her passion for equity. Marin County has been Margot’s home for the past 21 years. It’s an ideal setting known for its beauty. What is not known is that, as stated on the agency’s website, it also “has the widest gap between rich and poor and the greatest racial inequities in the State of California.” As Margot explains, this is something that moves her to action and should be a rallying point in community. Margot would like to help accelerate change through marketing. Marketing, she elaborates, “can increase awareness of the problem and Community Action Marin’s mission: to ultimately reduce this gap by breaking down the barriers that get in the way of self-sufficiency and providing the services that people need.”

Throughout her marketing career, Margot has worked with a full range of top healthcare, financial, education, automotive, technology B2B and B2C companies and clients, and for nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Her happy place however is in the nonprofit world working on things that matter.

Margot’s most recent role was at Edventure More (EDMO), an award-winning Bay Area educational enrichment organization as their Chief Marketing & Operations Officer. In this position, Margot worked to help make equitable, high-quality Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs accessible to ALL communities and put kids on the path to a happy and healthy life. In Margot’s mind, Community Action Marin takes this work one step further through their client-centric programs that focus on the individual and family as a whole, from education, child care, and mental health to career guidance, employment support, and more.
