There’s no staff member that better represents the heart of Community Action Marin than Laurel Hill. For 30 years, Laurel’s knowledge of the Marin community has helped the agency take on new challenges in response to evolving needs.
Laurel started out managing the rental assistance program and then went on to build a program in the ’90s for those living with AIDS or HIV. Over time, she also helped to build transportation, pharmaceutical, dental, and cash assistance programs. Laurel even played a formative role in bringing the first detox center to Marin County by helping to get the Helen Vine Recovery Center off the ground.
Laurel’s expertise enabled her to take on a variety of roles at the agency, from Deputy Director and Interim Executive Director at one point, to several programmatic leadership positions, including her current work leading the agency’s Safety Net Services team. This strengthened effort will provide our low-income households, precariously housed, and homeless individuals with the safety net supports that are critical to well-being at this changing and difficult time for so many.
