Cynthia Roldan’s work for Community Action Marin can only be defined as multi-faceted. The Human Resource Coordinator says the responsibilities of her position include many ways to support the team: recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, payroll, terminations, policies, and procedures.
“My role is a dynamic one,” Cynthia says. “I work closely with the HR Director, Business Partner, and our Payroll Specialist in order to coordinate many important tasks. My schedule changes on a daily basis. There is never a dull moment, but at the center, it’s all about our people.”
Cynthia came to Community Action Marin first as a volunteer in the Economic Justice department. She became an employee in May of this year. Cynthia previously worked as a Human Resources generalist for other non-profit organizations and was happy to come full-time into her role at the agency. Her personal values, she says, align well:
”As a child of immigrants, a woman of color, and a native Spanish speaker, I take very seriously treating all others with respect, equality, and inclusion. I have benefited from inclusive employers and educational organizations due to their commitment to supporting those ethics. CAM reflects my values entirely.”
A favorite part of Cynthia’s job is to collaborate with others. She notes, “I have always been very diligent, and analytical. I excel at making sure that we are compliant with policies, whether the agency’s or government. Something I strive for is to treat everyone with respect and dignity.”
When she’s not juggling her many tasks with the Human Resources department, Cynthia enjoys time on the local beaches and communing with nature. She also enjoys reading her favorite books, an award-winning science-fiction series by Adrian Tchaikovsky titled, “Children of Time.” She loves playing mind-boggling strategic board games. And most of all, Cynthia appreciates having quality time with her family and her beloved dog, Maximus, or Max for short.
