Meeting the Moment

Posted on Category General

This is a pivotal moment in our country. While challenging, it is not unfamiliar. Our shared values are being tested and strengthened, and our collective resolve is what will move us forward. What is clear in this moment is that we have work to do to meet the future we know is possible.

For too long, individuals, families, and entire communities have been excluded from the American Dream. Marginalization and systemic harm perpetuate deep disparities—right here in Marin County.

I know that you, like all of us at Community Action Marin, are committed to meeting this moment with vision and action. We have a plan, and here’s how, together, we will meet this moment in support of a thriving community:

We are meeting the moment by addressing basic needs.
As Marin’s largest nonprofit human services provider, CAM’s on-the-ground trusted team works hard to ensure people have access to essentials like food and shelter, childcare and workforce opportunities.

We are meeting the moment with a vision of hope for a brighter future.
Leading local anti-poverty efforts means that we are taking steps toward a future where people across generations—each one of us—sees ourselves as part of a better Marin.

We are meeting the moment through collective action.
Here are three actions you can take today:

1) Support Head Start by responding to our action alert
2) Share the Immigrant Resource Guide with those who need it
3) Attend Step Up Marin! and get involved in community-driven change (join our ribbon cutting ceremony at our new campus in Novato on May 16th)

Join us! Now is the time to meet this moment together. In doing so, we help build a brighter, more inclusive future for all of us. There is power in our shared commitment and collective action.

With hopefulness,

Chandra Alexandre, CCAP
Chief Executive Officer
