Readying for Back-to-School Success!
Posted on Category Events, General

Collaboration last Friday made it fun and easy for some of Marin’s littlest students to get ready for school!

Volunteers, teachers, and interns came together at Community Action Marin’s De Colores Children’s Center in San Rafael to assemble 50 back-to-school backpacks with items for kindergarten and first grade.  Partners Bank of America and 10,000 Degrees assembled and distributed the supplies in colorful, donated backpacks that included pencils, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, water bottles, notebooks, and other classroom items.  Teachers Rubi, Celestina, Jasmine, and Carmen at De Colores directly supported the activity.

“I’m thrilled to see how we can help even our youngest learners who might otherwise not have what they need to start the school year off right,” said Chandra Alexandre, CEO, Community Action Marin. “The event today was a wonderful way to bring smiles to many faces and help to bring excitement for school to these children.”

Amy Loflin, Senior Vice President, Napa, Marin, Sonoma Market Executive for Bank of America, shared:

“The interns and volunteers had a great time. As a mom myself, I am delighted to think that these incoming kindergarteners not only are prepared academically thanks to Community Action Marin’s program, but they also now have the backpacks and supplies they’ll need for a successful start to the year.”

Thank you to all who participated and made this a wonderful day for all to remember.
