Atmosphere of Warmth & Caring
Research shows that peer mentors and support specialists involved in mental health recovery reduce re-hospitalization rates and inpatient days, and lower overall costs of services. They also increase use of outpatient services, quality of life outcomes, engagement rates, and whole health including eating habits, satisfaction, and hopefulness.
Together, as a team of individuals with lived experience of mental health concerns, we are committed to teaching, empowering, and advocating for our clients. Peer specialists strive to support recovery, the process of change where people with a mental health disorder improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and work to reach their full potential and thrive in community.
Our programs goal is to provide an atmosphere of warmth and caring. Our trained peer specialists work in partnership with teams at the County of Marin Health and Behavioral Services Department. Our staff ensure additional support for homeless people with mental illness and guide them in connecting with the best of community resources.
Our team of Crisis Planners also create wellness and crisis plans once people have received mental health services, a tool to promote their stabilization and recovery.
