“Many communities of color continue to live with challenges that have been exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic. As a company, we are doing more with local partners like Community Action Marin to help drive economic and societal progress that benefits individuals and neighborhoods alike.” —Jason Foster, North Bay Market President, Bank of America

To enact the changes needed in Marin County for equity and justice, words aren’t enough—we need to take bold action. Community Action Marin and Bank of America are proud to announce their partnership to support the agency’s continued work to advance racial and economic equity in Marin County with a $50,000 grant from Bank of America.

“This is a particularly important investment, as it comes at a noteworthy time in our country’s evolution as a democratic nation and at a time when we’re ready to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his lifelong fight for racial and economic justice,” comments Chandra Alexandre, CEO of Community Action Marin. “Our agency’s dedication through both words and actions will continue to ensure that people can fulfill their dreams as full individuals, recognized with dignity and respect. We’re extremely grateful to Bank of America for their support.”

“Many communities of color continue to live with challenges that have been exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic. As a company, we are doing more with local partners like Community Action Marin to help drive economic and societal progress that benefits individuals and neighborhoods alike,” said Jason Foster, North Bay market president, Bank of America.

Community Action Marin is the largest non-profit provider of social services to individuals and families of low income in Marin County. The agency leads on efforts for racial and economic equity in California’s most disparate county in the state by race across key indicators of well-being such as income, health, and education. Each year, the agency partners with over 5,000 households to meet needs across five service areas: Safety Net, Economic Opportunity & Workforce Development, Children and Family Services, Mental Health, and Equity Initiatives. These efforts are part of a whole family approach to helping individuals and families create pathways to self-sufficiency.

COVID-19 has compounded challenges faced by many families and individuals of low income with access to housing and, in some cases, the loss of housing. For many in our community, job losses have added to already heightened fears of economic instability. The partnership created through this grant from Bank of America will directly help expand efforts to support our neighbors and members of our community who are economically vulnerable and help provide essential services to aid in this elevated time of need.

Community Action Marin is proud to have a partner in Bank of America to help in these efforts.
