Marin Head Start Starts Off the Years with a Growth Mindset

At pre-service this year, MHS Staff participated in a brain-stretching presentation on Growth Mindset as a charge to support school readiness.  Growth Mindset, based on Carol Dweck's research and book titled Mindset, explores the characteristics of what it means to have a growth mindset versus a fixed mindset.

Kristen Brock has been appointed Executive Director of Community Action Marin

 Kristen Brock has been appointed Executive Director of Community Action Marin, effective August 24th, following a search led by The Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership. A nonprofit executive with more than 25 years of experience, Ms. Brock has spent the majority of her career working with YMCAs nationally, and in the Bay Area and Texas. She has a Bachelor of Science from Wheaton College and a Master in Marriage and Family Counseling from San Diego State University.

After graduating from SSU in 1990, Mahealani worked five years for the federal government setting up a model after school program. She created programs at Hamilton Air Force Base and Mare Island Naval Shipyard and was awarded a Notable Achievement Award by the Lieutenant Commander.
